At my very young age of 30, I have finally been brought to my calling as an R&B singer. I was in the right place at the right time. When I met my producer and he told me to “bring it” and I did just that. Now it’s done been brought! Look out world!!!

My name is Sholeena, I currently live in Mesa, Arizona. I am from Edgerton, Kansas originally. I grew up most of my life there. My mother and one of my sisters still reside in Kansas, where the rest of my family are spread out amongst the United States. I am the youngest of 7. My whole family is musically inclined. I performed in every choir or chorus as I was growing up. I have always had the drive and the want to perform and to sing for the world.

Since I was a little bitty girl I have always sang in front of everybody. I have never been afraid to belt it out and let my voice be heard. From the time my mother heard me sing “Animal Crackers in My Soup” when I was in kindergarten in front of a huge audience she knew that I was born to perform and that someday her little Bena would be on a stage performing in front of millions of people. I was in chorus all through my school years. When I was in High School my best friend Aletra and I were forming a group called Shades of Gray. We always joked about what we could do, and we performed in High School talent shows. We lost touch over the years but it hasn’t stopped my drive of becoming an R&B artist. When I left Kansas and moved to Arizona with my daughter and my husband at the time I had no idea what was in store when I moved here. I since now have 2 children. Victoria is 8 years old and Morgan is 4 years old. My kids and my ex husband are very supportive as well as I have the best friends and family on the face of the earth who are very supportive.

I was online one day and my IM box popped up and a man by the name of Shortly Ounce popped up on my screen. We got to talking and I learned he was a producer. Now the first thing that came to my mind was”yeah this is a scam”. Well ,no scam and I told him that I sang and to prove that I told him to call me. I sang the beginning of “Hold On” by En Vogue to him and he sat there for a minute, and said are you sure your white? I laughed and said I am as white as they come sugar, this is just me and my soul flowing out to ya. Did I reach ya? Are you still there? He said yes and yes. When can you come to the studio?

I started working on some projects for some local rappers doing backup and hooks and whatnot. Until Shorty had signed with Y&R Records&Studios we were using his studio which consisted of his computer equipped with Pro Tools, keyboards and mixing machines and a closet that was made into a booth. We currently just finished my very first single which was recorded at Y&R. Y&R has had several big rap artists record there such as Baby Bash, C-BO, and Snoop just to name a few.

This is my calling, this is what I was made to do. I have a voice and drive that needs to be seen and heard by the whole world and I am ready to embrace them with open arms!
